Lock your app from unwanted visitors

While anyone can download your Onespot app, access to its content can be restricted to ensure only the right users can view sensitive information. Onespot provides two ways to lock your app—either by making the entire app private or by restricting access based on account types.

Method 1: Locking Your Entire App with a Passcode

If you want to restrict general access to your app, you can make it private so that only those with a passcode can join.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to Admin Superpowers (Lightning Bolt Icon).
  2. Scroll down to Publishing and Privacy.
  3. Toggle the Lock App & Make It Private option.
  4. Set a passcode that users must enter before accessing the app.
  5. Save your settings.

When to Use This: This method is best if you want all users to require a passcode before they can even sign up, regardless of their account type.

Method 2: Restricting Access by Account Type

For a more flexible approach, you can lock specific account types while still allowing limited public access.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to Admin Superpowers (Lightning Bolt Icon).
  2. Navigate to Account Types.
  3. Select the account types you want to lock (e.g., Parents & Staff).
  4. Set a passcode for restricted accounts.
  5. Save your settings.

How It Works:

  • Visitors can join the app without a passcode and see limited content.
  • Restricted users (e.g., staff and parents) must enter a passcode before accessing private sections.

Why Use This Feature?

Restricting access ensures privacy, security, and controlled user access to sensitive school information. Locking by account type provides greater flexibility, allowing schools to create public-facing content for visitors while protecting staff and parent-specific resources. This feature keeps your school’s communication safe and accessible only to the right people. 🚀
