How to Change the Invoicing Method for a Subscription
Admins can now change the billing method on any subscription between Charge Automatically and Send Invoice, depending on whether the parent has a payment method on file.
Billing Method Options
There are two billing methods available:
Charge Automatically
Automatically charges the parent's default payment method (such as a credit card or bank account) on the due date.
Send Invoice
Sends an invoice to the parent, which they must pay manually.
⚠️ You can only use Charge Automatically if the parent has added a payment method. If not, the subscription must use Send Invoice.
How to Switch the Billing Method
From “Send Invoice” to “Charge Automatically”:
- Go to the subscription you'd like to update.
- Click Edit.
- Change the Billing Method to Charge Automatically.
- The system will now charge the parent’s default payment method on file when payment is due.
From “Charge Automatically” to “Send Invoice”:
- Go to the subscription.
- Click Edit.
- Change the Billing Method to Send Invoice.
- Set:
- The invoice due date (e.g., when payment should be made).
- The number of days after the invoice is sent for the parent to complete payment.
📌 Good to Know
- Changing the billing method only affects future billing cycles.
- Make sure the parent has a valid default payment method if you're switching to Charge Automatically.
- When switching to Send Invoice, the due date you set will determine when payment is expected.
