Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Staff Directory with Google Sheets
Step 1: Set Up Your Google Sheets Directory
- Open Google Sheets and create a new spreadsheet.
- Label the columns with the necessary information:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Responsibility/Job Title
- Name the sheet/tab (e.g., Directory).
- Copy the Google Sheet ID from the URL (the long string of characters between slashes).
Step 2: Create a Staff Directory Screen in Onespot
- Open your Onespot Admin Panel.
- Click on the Lightning Bolt Icon, then select New Screen.
- Choose Start from Scratch and name the screen Staff Directory.
- Select an icon (e.g., a professional with a tie).
Step 3: Connect the Google Sheet to Onespot
- Click Add Content → Advanced Content → Data Feed.
- Paste the Google Sheet ID in the designated field.
- Enter the Google Sheet tab name (e.g., Directory).
Step 4: Format the Displayed Information
- Create a Name Field:
- Add a text field and use brackets to reference the columns:
- Add an Email Button:
- Select Button → Email Button.
- Set the button to display the email column:
- Display the Staff Role:
- Add a Text Field and reference the Responsibility column:
- Enhance the Layout:
- Add spacing or divider lines to improve readability.
Step 5: Save & Sync the Directory
- Click Save & Create to finalize the screen.
- Open your Onespot app and check that the directory displays correctly.
- Make updates in Google Sheets—changes will automatically sync in the app!
