Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Staff Directory with Google Sheets

Step 1: Set Up Your Google Sheets Directory

  1. Open Google Sheets and create a new spreadsheet.
  2. Label the columns with the necessary information:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Email
    • Responsibility/Job Title
  3. Name the sheet/tab (e.g., Directory).
  4. Copy the Google Sheet ID from the URL (the long string of characters between slashes).

Step 2: Create a Staff Directory Screen in Onespot

  1. Open your Onespot Admin Panel.
  2. Click on the Lightning Bolt Icon, then select New Screen.
  3. Choose Start from Scratch and name the screen Staff Directory.
  4. Select an icon (e.g., a professional with a tie).

Step 3: Connect the Google Sheet to Onespot

  1. Click Add ContentAdvanced ContentData Feed.
  2. Paste the Google Sheet ID in the designated field.
  3. Enter the Google Sheet tab name (e.g., Directory).

Step 4: Format the Displayed Information

  1. Create a Name Field:
    • Add a text field and use brackets to reference the columns:

    • Select ButtonEmail Button.
    • Set the button to display the email column:
  2. Display the Staff Role:
    • Add a Text Field and reference the Responsibility column:
  3. Enhance the Layout:
    • Add spacing or divider lines to improve readability.

Step 5: Save & Sync the Directory

  1. Click Save & Create to finalize the screen.
  2. Open your Onespot app and check that the directory displays correctly.
  3. Make updates in Google Sheets—changes will automatically sync in the app!
